Description

The Mikelson 61 Sportfisher combines the comforts of a pilothouse and the fishability of a sportfisher. The Fexas-designed hull has been merged with the layout of a pilothouse reminiscent of the earlier California-built Elliots, yet with all the latest state-of-the-art materials and marine construction techniques. Her 18-foot, 11-inch beam affords a large, midship master stateroom and guest staterooms forward.

R & R has many upgrades.  Interior stylist Claudette Bonville has added beautiful details including air-conditioner controls concealed under custom cherry touch-pad panels, 14-karat gold-plated stateroom bathroom fixtures and galley counters with rainforest brown granite.  American cherry wood throughout was hand selected for R & R finished in high gloss with maple burl inlays.

Eight stations around the yacht provide access to navigation and entertainment programs.  The entertainment system is equipped with 2 portable and 4 built-in Crestron touch-screen controllers.  3 video cameras monitor the engine room, while 3 others are used for navigation and entertainment.  One below the waterline at the stern; another under the forward cabin overhang; the third is in the cockpit and pans, tilts, and zooms to follow all the fishing action.

Improved range was achieved by increasing the fuel capacity by 400 gallons to 2,320 gallons.  An Eskimo ice chipper provides ice for one of the fish boxes in the cockpit sole.  Teak covered lids on the transom's 2 aquarium style bait tanks can be turned over and used as cutting boards.  Rod storage is in the push-button operated, drop-dowm overhead as well as on the inside back wall of the day-head's shower.  The cockpit sink has been converted into a chum machine which can be pumped directly overboard or into chum bags.

The flybridge provides unobstructed 360-degree views and boasts an L-shaped settee with drop-leaf table and the standard observer settee behind the helm.  A Bimini top extends aft from the radar arch, which also doubles as the seat for the helm on the marlin deck, just above the flybridge.
