Overview

Heaven’s gate is the First Allseas (92’) built by master shipbuilder Tim Alls who has built 43 yachts and Fishing vessels of similar design. Early fishing vessels were used in the treacherous bering sea and in the Alaskan king crab fishing industry, as seen on "The Deadliest Catch" TV Show. About eight yachts have been built all based on the same proven hull. Along the way Tim has done a lot more such as building a Catamaran for Microsoft's Bill Gates, designing yacht and ship monitoring systems as installed on Heaven's Gate, designing land based power management systems, various camping inventions, and becoming an accomplished musician. Heaven’s Gate is a rugged offshore explorer yacht faired and finished like a proper yacht with an Awlgrip 2000 (hull) paint finish for easy touch up and regular Awlgrip white on the superstructure for easy cleaning. The interior joiner work was done by some of the best cabinet makers in the Pacific Northwest utilizing African Ribbon Mahogany, Brazilian Cherry, Carrera Marble and Granite. The interior is very spacious with 6'8" head room throughout. Heaven's Gate is very strongly built with bottom plating 3/8th inch thick, hull sides are 5/16th inch thick, and the keel is a 12x12 steel I-beam that will support the entire 320,000 lb weight of Heaven’s Gate on a single point. The hull design exceeds ABS commercial standards. Heaven’s Gate has a fishing boat deep water anchoring system and a range of approximately 5,000 nm, very unusual for a yacht this size! Heaven’s Gate has cruised the east and west coast of the USA, transiting the Panama Canal, and has proven extremely seaworthy in every bad weather situation encountered.

Heaven's Gate has 2'-3' more beam than other expedition yachts this size. The fuel tanks are positioned very low in the mid-body and together with the wide beam, Heaven's Gate is a very stable vessel that does not depend on stabilizers for safety. Stabilizers have however been installed to minimize rolling and yawing and ensure upmost comfort. Aft of the deep mid-body the bottom longitudinal profile comes up over the 6' tall rudders to create a more shallow draft than most expedition vessels this size and improve efficiency because the hull does not drag a lot of water with it.

Vessel Walkthrough
While Heaven’s Gate is an explorer yacht it is also a full tri deck motor yacht with Flybridge. The engine room is aft on level one with four guest cabins mid-ship and crew quarters forward on the same level. On the main deck an open aft deck is all the way aft on level two and forward of the aft deck is the salon and galley. All the way forward on level 2 is the master stateroom with king size bed and large ensuite head. Aft on level three is a boat deck with outdoor grill, crane and tenders, sky lounge, and Pilothouse. Above the Pilothouse with access from the aft deck is an open Flybridge with hardtop. There are walk around side decks opposite the galley and salon on level two and around the Pilothouse on level 3 with a Portuguese bridge forward with center access to the anchoring deck. There is 360 degree visibility from both the Pilothouse and the Flybridge. Because of her wide beam and deep mid-body Heaven's Gate is a large volume explorer yacht at only 92' over all length! She is capable of safe Atlantic and Pacific ocean crossings and travel to remote places like Chile, Cape Horn, an Arctic trip or a trip through the Northwest passage. Heaven's Gate is a naturally stable vessel and often makes her passages without even turning her stabilizers on! She is a self sufficient vessel and would be ideal for homeschooling children on a world wide adventure!

Hull Structure

Keel: 12 by 12 I Beam with 1 1/4 inch flanges and a 3/4 inch center beam. The keel extends downward from the bottom of the boat adding additional protection and can support the entire weight of the vessel at any one point.

Stem: 3/4" x 12" Precut Steel

Framing: Transverse Minimum Frame is 6" by 3 1/2" by 3/8" thick with additional longitudinals 3/8" by 2 1/2" every 12 inches.

Bottom 3/8" Steel

Side Plating: 5/16" Steel
Main Deck Plating: 1/4" plate

Bulkhead Plating: 1/4" plate

Tank Top Plating: 1/4”plate

Bulwark Cap Plate: 2" by 4" inch Stainless Steel Tubing

Rub Rail: 8"inch split Stainless Steel Pipe welded to steel hull
Hull Paint: Fully faired Awlcraft 2000 paint system

Superstructure paint: Awlgrip white

Paint Preperation: Exterior of hull from the waterline up is precoated with 6 mils of zinc. Two more coats of epoxy HighBuild, Awlgrip Primer and three coats of Awlcraft 2000 blue.

During her recent haul out, HEAVEN’S GATE’S draft was carefully remeasured. With 60% fuel onboard (4200 gallons-more than many 95 footers carry), Draft is 6’11” to the bottom of the skegs that support the propeller shafts and rudders. The two skegs are the deepest parts of the boat, and they are EIGHT INCHES below the propeller tips, so in 7’ of water or a little less,  you can navigate with no damage other than bottom paint.   With less fuel on board there would be more clearance.

Anchoring System

There are 19 inch Hydraulic Bow and Stern thrusters for easy docking with steel guards for protection from logs. There are bow and stern anchor winches (not a Capstan and chain locker). The secret to deep water anchoring is in the layering of the chain. Following the 350 pound anchor is 90' feet of galvanized 7/8" stud link galvanized chain (to ensure that the anchor pull is on the bottom) followed by 200 feet of 1/2 inch high tensile chain followed by 300 feet of steel cable. This type of anchoring system with different size tension members can only be pulled onto a drum....it is faster and safer than a capstan that must use the same chain that is too lightweight next to the anchor and makes an improper catenary. The stern anchor system is similar to the bow anchor system just smaller.  The stern anchor is very effective at holding Heaven's Gate in position when tides and winds change.

Engine Room
Engine Room is located aft of guest staterooms. Lazzarette is located aft of engine room. Water Tight Bulkheads/Doors: 4 watertight compartments on lowest level.
Engine & Gear

Two Cummins KT19 600 HP @ 1,800 RPM, 24V electric start, tier two emission certificates. Each engine has Cummins dual pre filters and dual Racor Filters. Each Filter can run the system and you can switch between the Filters while the engine is operating. The Filters have drip trays under them for ease of cleaning and are easily seen during engine room inspections. Each engine has its own starting bank consisting of 2 8D gas free batteries. Batteries were replaced in 2016. The main engines start batteries can be paralleled between main engines. The main engine starting banks are charged by an AC charger and an alternator. The engines have the deep crank case oil pans which allow for oil changes every 400 hours. Both engines are on Sound Down rubber isolators and coupled to CV Joints and a remote thrust block bearing for the ultimate low vibration and low noise transmission. To protect the drive train, in the event of collision with an underwater object or grounding, both shafts have prop saver torque fuses, where the fuse will break before the shaft will be bent and propeller damage will be minimized.

Fuel consumption will vary from 10 GPH to 20 GPH depending on speed and weather. Her sweet spot is 1150 RPM with a speed of around 9 knots and burning 12 to 15 GPH which includes a 55 KW Generator.

In order to reduce noice level in the guest staterooms, engine room is located aft of guest staterooms. The Lazzarette is located aft of engine room with a water tight door to the swim platform. Bulkheads/Doors: 4 watertight compartments on lowest level.

Shore Power: 240/120 VAC, 1 x 50 Amps and 1 X 100 Amps both on Glenndenning auto winding systems.

Isolation Transformer: Charles C-Power auto boosting transformer Split Bus: 220 VAC

In 2020 a Victron uninterruptible power supply/inverter was installed between the shore power cables and the electrical panel. This system provides 60amps of power for 1 hour if dockside shore power malfunctions and will start a preselected generator after a preset period of time. This system eliminates abrupt loss of power and brown outs which can damage electrical and electronic components. This is an example of how the owner of Heaven's Gate continually upgrades the vessel even though it is for sale! Tim Alls the AllSeas boat builder is a Victron trained certified installer of the UPS/inverter system.

While the UPS/Inverter system was being installed all the lighting was upgraded to the latest LED lights and LED controllers.  This was easily done because of the removable ceiling panels that can be taken up and down many times (unlike velcro or whisper wall systems that can only come down a few times). The net result is about 70% reduction in lighting power requirements.  All the lighting is on a 110 volt bus that can be fed by a 50 amp shore cord. The installation of the UPS/inverter and the more efficient lighting allows Heaven's Gate to operate in places like Maine, the Pacific Northwest, Northern Europe on a single 50 amp cord with peak power loads for galley appliances, hair dryers, being provided by the UPS/inverter for short periods of time.  The other advantage of this system is that when the boat is running on one of the night generators, peak loads can be picked up by the inverter system.

She uses a packing box with the new drippless packing and has a rubber bladder to allow in water change out of packing. A short driveline allows for no forward bearing, just one stern bearing to take care of on each side.

Tankage
A common problem on metal boats is corrosion in the gray water tank, the black water tank, and the water tank. Heaven's Gate is designed for a very long useful life without re-plating tanks every ten to fifteen years due to lack of coating or failure of coatings. The only integral tanks on Heaven's Gate are the fuel tanks and the hydraulic oil tanks which are protected by the fluid inside the tank and the epoxy coating on the outside of the hull. Other tanks; water, black water, and gray water are separate integral tanks mounted above the bottom of the boat so they are not integral to the hull bottom.  Other than the diesel and hydraulic tanks which are integral and utilize the bottom of the boat, all other bilge spaces are accessible and are painted so they will last indefinitely with periodic cleaning and maintenance. In other words, Heaven's Gate is a dry bilge boat with no place for rust to occur other than maintaining the chain locker. The water tank is stainless steel which provides much better quality potable water than aluminum or steal.
Main Engine Control System

Electronic: Micro Commander with Pilothouse and Flybridge control heads. One remote head on a 50 foot cord allows for control anywhere on the boat deck level. Deck Equipment

Fore Deck

Two Fiberglass deck boxes, one for emergency pull lines and the other with a complete sea anchor system. One of the two 26 inch anchor winches with 90 ft of 7/8" stud galvanized chain followed by 200 feet of 1/2 inch high tensil galvanized chain followed by 300 feet of 5/8" galvanized Wire Rope. This is typical to the fishing boats that operate in Alaska and is coupled to a 350 pound anchor. The on deck winch means no chain locker and allows the layered chain to be used. A stainless trough is under the chain with artificial teak decking to handle any rubbing from the massive chain. This hull does not need a bulbous bow for efficiency so therefore you don't need to worry about scraping it when operating the anchor winch. The deck is coated with Awlgrip nonskid and equipped with a warping winch and two 3 1/2 inch custom bollards for forward lines or for towing.

Boat Deck

The beam is is 25' 7" on center line and 24' 9" wide on the inside of the bulwarks. Aft on the boat deck is a 10,000 pound telescoping Autocrane which can extend out to 21 feet and still pick nearly 2,000 pounds in that position and over 5,000 in it's ideal position for lift. The boat deck can handle 10,000 pounds of toys as per the incline test performed while in the water. Currently the boat deck is equipped with a custom landing craft weighing 4,000 pounds and an 18' Nouvarania tender with a 140hp Yamaha outboard. Bolt on pads hold the cradles so the boat deck can be reconfigured without disturbing the non-skid decking. LED deck lighting gives good night time visibility.

BOTH TENDERS ARE EXCLUDED FROM THE SALE.

Fuel System

7,000 gallons of integral fuel tanks with an 1800 gallon day tank that runs all machinery onboard. An Algae X system is used for fuel transfer and can polish any tank on the vessel. The port and stbd wing tanks are used to introduce new fuel then transferred to the day tank through the AlgaeX system insuring only clean fuel for the machinery. Condensation ports are available for every tank on the vessel and the tank levels can be manually dipped or easily read by the Stainless Steel Pressure Transducers mounted externally on every tank. These are feed into the vessel monitoring system and can be read on any of the many touchscreen computers onboard.

Sea Chest and Sea Water Systems

There are four oversized sea chests built into the engine room compartment. 4 inch pipe with a 1 inch wall thickness with only a 5 inch length allows for cleaning, painting, and inspection from the outside of the vessel. Attached to the 3/4 inch flange is a heavy duty studlock bronze ball valve so the topside plumbing can be maintained while in the water. Valves are installed on every sea chest to allow fresh water flushing or air pressure back flushing.

Bilge System

The bilges are protected by two different systems. The large system is dual AC Powered Sump Pumps with 1 1/2 inch outlets. She has them in each water tight compartment. In addition is a small DC pump system to keep the bilges dry. Bilge level sensors are in every compartment and tied to a central alarm system.

Black and Gray Water Systems

Black water system: 800 gallon polyethanol tank mounted in the engine room. Gray Water system: 150 gallon sump in the lowest portion of the boat. Gray water can be routed to the black water pump for storage or automatic discharge overboard. The gray and black water pumps are controlled by a custom PLC that can easily change it's level triggers. This is useful in heavy weather to keep minimum fluids onboard and avoid hydraulic action from the extreme motion of the boat.

Chilled Water and AC Systems

Chilled water, 15 ton capacity compressors, 3 each, Keel coolers on the bottom of the boat- No salt water coming into the engine room for air conditioning.

Standard 3 phase Commercial Scroll Compressors (3), 5 ton capacity chillers with Frequency Drives which means no flickering lights and adjustable speed and current draw. All controlled by a stand alone web module, this allows for computer monitoring or access from your smart phone anytime. Parts for this system are available anywhere. Two large capacity keel coolers are installed as condensers to eliminate salt water in the engine room and the additional maintenance that goes with it.
